Oddly, I did not read the December newsletter but I almost always do and I usually find something of interest. Like the Hazard Map in today’s issue. I like the blog and usually forward it to my husband. I bet others were inundated with holiday stuff like I was. I can think of several recent things I have meant to respond to but haven’t done so yet and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one.

I really like the fact that this blog exists separately from Facebook. I look for news on both the Pinehurst FB and here, but the Facebook posts are harder to go back to when looking for details( and not everyone is on FB, so having the blog seems more inclusive). Thanks for doing it!

I read the blog through the RSS feed and rarely comment, but appreciate the content. I love that this is NOT attached to Facebook and is just a normal blog. I’d rather not support Meta and find the way information is structured there to be irritating. A blog is straightforward and chronological. (Speaking of that, I’m not sure how valuable it would be to migrate all the old content. How much do people need to reference when the Halloween dog parade was in 2019?)

I think a less formal approach to a blockwatch can also work. Such as hosting an annual potluck on the Seattle Night Out (1st Tuesday evening in August) and having a email/phone contact list for the folks on your steet.

From the meeting minutes: “Asked if SPD has an estimate for what percentage of crimes are NOT reported, Captain says if a crime isn’t reported, from SPD’s view it doesn’t exist. It’s very important to report crimes; SPD is reactive – it goes where crimes are reported. For instance, patrol cars are sent to drive around areas with a lot of crime reports, their visibility is a deterrent to more crime. Crimes can be reported after they happen, and though they might not be solved, the data helps determine patrolling.”

The Pierre family is vicious. They should be run out of the community. They closed their Dodge dealer and gave technicians ZERO WARNING. they came into work and found building locked.
When they moved Chevy store into Ford bodyshop, they drove half the employees into bankruptcy, because instead of paying them… they, they used the state of Wa against employees. Technicians were flat rate… but no work equals no pay, and… if we “voluntarily quit” we would not receive unemployment. I frankly would like to see ever single one of their properties burn to the ground.

Hi Everyone – Looking forward to seeing many of you on Saturday at the Pocket Park!

I wanted to bring up an idea on this forum related to the Pocket Park: What about allocating some neighborhood money to a little play structure in the wood chip area of the park? Something small, cute, and natural for the many young kid (1-5 years) that live in the neighborhood before they age-up to the fancier Pinehurst Playground or Victory Heights Playground. Ours could be a free-standing, wooden, out-of-the-box product or a custom-made creation—I could envision a beam that extends between the two Douglas Firs for swings and a base for a platform/slide and other features.

I volunteer to sponsor matching funds for this if we get the appropriate buy-in. Thanks!

Thank you very much for your introduction and your thoughtful, information letter to us. We all wish you the best of luck and fulfillment in your new position as North Precinct Captain! We also really thank Captain Sano for his great leadership and wish him the best.

I recently visited the North Precinct to drop off a No Parking sign that my son and I found in the Victory Creek Park wetland when we were cleaning it regularly as creek stewards. I had meant to return it earlier, but somehow it ended up in our storage shed and I just rediscovered it. I noticed that the North Precinct is still closed for visitors. I am wondering if it will reopen soon and/or if you have a suggestion of what I should do with that sign.

I appreciate your information on the homelessness situation and agree with you that at least a minimal police presence is necessary for encampment clean-up, even if only as a back-up to a different social services agency. I think that the agency that takes on this task is going to discover this soon enough and hopefully we will arrive at an accepted procedure.

Still looking for a schematic which shows detailed-depictions of the exteriors of all of the currently-proposed buildings within the entire property that the old mall was on. There’re lots of illustrations of interiors, or a single building, but nothing that shows (in detail) how the transformation will look when completed. In any case, the pollyanna-Seattle economy won’t continue. It will be interesting to see how this project plays out as Seattle experiences a decelerating economy for the first time since the late-1960’s. Unlike that time five decades ago, there isn’t going to be an economic turnaround within the lifetimes of anyone that can read this.

Hey, everyone, registering really does help! I had my beloved bike stolen last year and got it back within three days because someone spotted it on Bike Index after it was left at the scene of another theft. Make your bike as distinctive and individual as you can, and register it with as many photos as you can. It’s far more effective than relying on the Police.

As always open space is the last thing on a developer’s mind and last on their phased list Sigh. At some point, parking will be a problem. It looks like most users of 24-hour fitness have been using Mall parking for years. There must have been some agreement. Wonder how that will play out. With light rail stuff and this, the area will be a mess. I’ve often wondered if the Northgate Apts will ever get in the game. We are definitely at a tipping point.

Hi there!

I’m a North Seattle resident intently following the District 5 City Council race, and looking forward to attending your debate. I’m a bit concerned though with your choice of Erica C. Barnett as moderator. I’ve already attended a D5 debate where Ms. Barnett moderated, and I understand there was another I missed that she moderated, as well. I’d like to urge you to please consider a different moderator. Ms. Barnett does not even live in D5, which is fine, but for her to moderate three district debates in one election cycle seems wrong to me. I, as just one voter, would appreciate a fresh voice.

Not sure where the Stranger got that info but it was very much today. I was going to be there to volunteer. Or at least, would have been except it’s been postponed. The park was flooded.
