This month’s guest speaker was Sgt. Richard O’Neill, Vice-President of SPOG, the Seattle Police Offiers’ Guild. You may have heard that recently negotiations for a new SPD contract were completed and are awaiting City Council vote. It will be retroactive to 2015 when the prior contract expired. SPD officers have been working without a contract and without raises since 2015. They, and firefighters, are not allowed to go on strike since they’re so critical for public safety.
