I was cleaning out a closet and found this image from the last time Safeway proposed redeveloping the Pinehurst store.
The images of the draft current design are available to view at the Department of Planning and Development. If I get an official electronic version of the new designs before the next Design Review meeting, I will post them to the blog. Safeway has done an amazing job of responding to community requests and feedback. (One of the few criticisms of the current design is that it does not include bioswales in the parking lot. If bioswales are not included, the thought is that they need to use permeable pavement or increase the trees and vegetation in the parking area.) When the new store opens, it will set a higher standard for Safeway stores in Seattle. And, we are way better off than we would have been had the design below been built.

Renee – you are right we should end up with something much better than was originally proposed. I also like the idea of bio- swales possibly instead of permeable pavement.
