Indulging in random acts of kindness anytime is good, but a special day for that is May 4th – Neighbor Day. Get tips for other things to do, and for more information at http://seattle.gov/neighborday. See Nathan Hale Theatre’s production of “Crazy For You: A New Gershwin Musical” this May. This family-friendly show has dance, dreams, jazz, love, mistaken identities, and cowboys! Performances are May 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 10th and 11th at 7 p.m. You can buy tickets at www.nathanhaletheatre.com. “Crazy For You, the classic tale of a boy, a girl, and a theater in need of a dream come true. In a world of showgirls and cowboys, a city boy and a country girl reconcile their differences, fall in love, and save a theater the old-fashioned way. In which lays the foundation for career success, new relationships, and true love.” This month, instead of a guest speaker, Captain Eric Sano, commander of the North Precinct, gave us an update on the March 27 murders on Sand Point Way. Our Crime Prevention Coordinator got a grant to buy some steering wheel clubs to give away. See minutes below for how to request one. The Community Police Team reminds us that it’s the season for home maintenance con jobs. Be cautious of people who drive down your street asking if you want your roof fixed. Captain Sano also gave us an update on North Precinct homeless encampment cleanups. For more news, and for more in-depth information about the above topics, you can read all the minutes here. This month’s art in the pocket park is a collage by an adult in rehab at Ida Culver House. She took an art class there taught by Victoria Raymond. This photo of her beautiful art is in the kiosk at Pinehurst Pocket Park, at the corner of NE 117th St and 19th Ave NE. Victoria Raymond offers group art lessons from her Pinehurst studio for both youth and adults. http://victoriaraymond.com If you would like to submit your child’s (or your) artwork for the Pocket Park, please email nancy@pinehurstseattle.org. Pinehurst Pocket Park Work Party 9:30-11:30 am, Saturday April 20, 2019
Please come on out if you want to help with the annual sprucing up of the PPP! A couple hours of our time makes in big difference in the appearance of our local park. The park is at the corner of 19th Ave NE and NE 117th St.
We’ll spend some time weeding and then spread some fresh bark mulch. So bring your favorite weeding tool and a bucket. A pitchfork and wheelbarrow could also come in handy.
All are welcome, see you there!
