Camelot Opens This Week at Seattle Musical Theatre

Camelot will be opening this Friday (tomorrow) at Seattle Musical Theatre and once again our blog readers can get a special deal. If you call the box office and mention the code “Blog Knight” they’re offering buy one, get one 1/2 off.

Seattle Musical Theatre at Magnuson Park opens its 34th season on September 10 with Camelot, the award-winning musical based on the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

Dual plots of intrigue and romance unfold against a background of beloved songs in this Lerner and Loewe classic. Camelot has it all — pageantry, love, chivalry, idealism, betrayal, intrigue, invincible knights, plots against the throne, heartbreak, and redemption!

The production marks the SMT debuts of Matthew Posner, Meowset Abbott and Jared Michael Brown, who head the talented cast as Lancelot, Guinevere and King Arthur, and Director Ward Scott Webster. Also making its first appearance is a brand new sound system, to further enhance audience pleasure.

Seattle Musical Theatre (formerly Civic Light Opera) is conveniently located in Magnuson Park, 7400 Sand Point Way NE. Parking is plentiful and free. If you’ve never seen one of our productions, now is the time to give us a try!

Camelot runs through October 2. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm. There will be one Thursday night performance on September 30th at 7:30 pm. Tickets range from $30 to $40 with special group rates available. For information, call 206-363-2809 or visit our website: seattlemusicaltheatre.org.

Sept. 16 Town Hall with Mayor McGinn!

Transportation related projects (sidewalks, traffic calming, rechannelization, crosswalks) are expected to be the main topic of discussion.  If there was ever a time to advocate, this is it.  The mayor, the head of Seattle Department of Transportation and the staff of the program that funds these projects will be there.  It is also a great time to thank the City for things you are happy with.

Join us for a Town Hall with Mayor Mike McGinn.

Thursday, September 16, Mayor Mike McGinn will come to St. Matthew Parish Hall for a Town Hall. Please join us.
6:00-6:30 Open House
Representatives from city departments will be on hand to hear from you.
6:30-7:30 Town Hall
Ask Mayor McGinn questions about issues that matter to your neighborhood. This portion of the evening will be moderated by Renee Staton, Pinehurst community member.

Where:
St Matthew Parish Hall
1240 NE 127th Street
Seattle WA 98125.

Parking in parish lot or on nearby streets. Bus #41 runs along NE 125th St.

For more information, please contact North District Council chair Phil Shack, philip.shack@gmail.com, 954-8179, or North District Coordinator Ed Pottharst, ed.pottharst@seattle.gov .

Note: Originally, there was only going to be a North District Council meeting on Sept. 16.  However, it has since been decided to combine it with the Town Hall, and with the anticipated larger turnout, the venue was changed to St Matthew Parish Hall.  I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this change.

Note #2: The format has been updated again.  The North District Council meeting will still be following this but I’m moving that to another post to try to alleviate some confusion.

Occupied Home Burglaries Down – But Be Vigilant

It was reported at this month’s North Precinct Advisory Committee that home invasion burglaries (burglaries when you are home) are down, but most of the ones that are happening are because doors or windows are left unlocked.  You can reduce your risk by remembering to lock up.  Thieves often try door knobs and windows; if they are locked, they often move on, but if they are open, they go in.

This tip was given as well – recording the serial numbers of your electronics helps in several ways if they are stolen:

  1. it increases the chances of tracking down the thieves
  2. it increases the chances of you getting your goods back
  3. it helps when making insurance claims
