Sustainable NE Seattle and the NE Seattle Tool Library are collaborating once again with Meadowbrook Community Center to offer its 9th annual HANDS ON! Community Skills–Share Fair. FREE all day
Workshop Schedule
What is a skills fair?
A day of sharing practical skills with our neighbors – there will be short workshops on a wide variety of skills, from sewing in the Sashiko style of Boro to basic electrical to emergency techniques aka “Stop the Bleed”. The day will include a free soft taco bar luncheon (12:15 pm) during which guest speaker Carla Penderock, of Beacon Food Forest.
- BFF is the largest urban food forest in the US
- BFF is on public land
- BFF utilizes permaculture design
- BFF’s vision is A world where every community participates in creating local food ecosystems

Skills from 10-5, Lunch at 12:30

Meadowbrook Community Center, 10517 35th Ave NE
Why?
- Building resilience – If we can build a neighborhood where we know how to take care of our needs close to home – we are more likely to do well in difficult times
- Growing Community – If we work together, share resources, eat and celebrate together, our community fabric grows stronger!
- Reducing waste – if we can re-purpose that old sweater, it stays out of the landfill.
Workshops to remember–
- Bring tools that need sharpening (to learn how sharpen while you do it),
- bring your bike that needs maintenance (to learn how while you do it),
- bring clothes & books you want to contribute to the Exchange,
- bring SCOBYs or sourdough starters in small containers to share,
- bring seeds you want to swap or donate to the King County Seed Library, AND
- bring clothes you want to patch in the BORO method.
