I just got passed some info on a music festival with a Pinehurst connection. There is an avant-jazz music festival the next couple weekends which includes Sunship (previously mentioned here) on Friday, January 22nd. It includes Brian Heaney from Pinehurst and Stuart Dempster who lives in Lake City. I also want to repeat the trivia that Stuart is credited with introducing the didjeridu to North America because that’s amazingly cool.

This town is packed with musicians–and I am happy to report that many north-end residents (including ME) sing in Seattle Pro Musica, an acclaimed choral group performing music by French composers at St. James–Friday and Saturday March 5 and 6. The music is lush and lovely–early music (Lassus and others) and some early 20th century works by Poulenc, Durufle, and Martin (most of his mass), and it is sung variously by a small women’s schola, a small mixed group, and the full choir of about 70 singers. The acoustics will knock you out. Check it out–Hope you can come. Elly
