Reminder: Emergency Preparedness Tonight!

The North District Council is meeting in Pinehurst tonight and I really wanted to stress the emergency preparedness program. The city is going to be putting on a special program to help teach people about emergency preparedness. As their blurb says, it should be fun and informative. And beyond that, it’s a very important topic and everybody should be well prepared.

Emergency Preparedness Program:
During this fun and informative program, learn about the hazards we’re most likely to face in Washington, how to take a quake-safe action wherever you are and how to take care of yourself and family. Personal preparedness focus includes putting together an emergency kit, making a family plan and learning skills that keep you safe and self-sufficient. Program put on by Seattle Office of Emergency Management.

  • What a shame this blog came out three days after the emergency preparedness presentation.

  • While I would always like to get things out earlier, it’s hard to get all the details in advance sometimes.

In this case, it got posted three days ago, the morning of the presentation. And it was a reminder for the original post that went up a few days before that. And the weekly digest email last week included the original post.

will there be other meetings? just reading this on Sunday – who can keep up with everything? But I think the neighborhood concept of being ready for emergencies should be a top priority for residents.

  • Yep, I’m hoping to have a Pinehurst Community Council meeting in about a month. But I want to make sure I have the details first (especially everything for Pinehurstfest) and can give everybody a lot of advance notice.

Also, if people are interested I might be able to get the city to come back to do a emergency preparedness meeting just for us. I’m not sure how that would work since they were just in the area though…

  • Hi Renee,
My name is Kathleen Kent (follow me on Twitter: kathleenkent). I have written a workbook to help people prepare at home and away from home and want you to know about it: http://www.LimitTheImpact.com. It could really help your community get prepared. Please check it out and let me know what you think.
    Thanks Renee
