Department of Planning and Development is proposing new Tree Regulations for Seattle. A group of citizens led by Steve Zemke and David Miller is rightfully concerned that these incentive based regulations will result in less tree protection and further loss of trees in Seattle.
The next meeting of this group is at the Broadview Library at NW 130th St and Greenwood Ave NW on Sunday 29 August from 130 – 430 pm. All interested persons are invited to attend.
Perhaps this would also be a good topic at the next Pinehurst meeting. John Dixon from the citizens group has offered to speak on this subject.
It would also help to write the Mayor and City Council members a letter or email regarding this subject.

The group that is working on this is calling itself Save The Trees Seattle. Steve Zemke is a leader of this group. You can contact him for information (stevezemke@msn.com, 366-0811).
I think it would be very helpful to email or write the mayor and city council about concern that the draft DPD regulations will result in continued loss of tree cover in Seattle.

I have a old tree out front on my neighbors house that hangs over on my property and it is
very dangerious.. It needs to come down but they will not do it.. can I get advice on how I would go about this? in wind storms I have had big chunks fall in my yard almost hitting my car.. the tree is dead not safe…thank you (11532 4th ave ne)
Julie – I would suggest getting an opinion from an arborist that is recommended by Plant Amnesty. I think many or most tree cutting companies are too eager to cut down a tree for fast cash.
