Our community council has joined the City’s Adopt-A-Street program. Starting small, we’ve signed up for these streets:
- Pinehurst Way NE – from Roosevelt Way NE to NE 125th St
- NE 115th St – from 20th Ave NE to Pinehurst Way NE
Our second work party will be Saturday, January 8 at 10 a.m. We’re looking for about 6 volunteers. Our October cleanup took 4 people 2 hours. I’ve ordered grabbers, rubber gloves, safety vests and a sharps container. If you are interested in helping, please email nancy@pinehurstseattle.org.
Our commitment is for four cleanup events over a year. Volunteering for this event does NOT commit you to future work parties.
If you participate, you’ll sign a volunteer sign-in sheet that gives you insurance coverage during the event. I’ll go over safety precautions with everyone.

I volunteered for the October cleanup, and had a blast! Try it out, meet some neighbors!
14th Ave NE between NE 120th St and NE 125th St could use some cleaning love, especially the intersection at NE 123rd St – there’s been a pile of garbage there, including a broken TV and some mattresses as long as I can remember. Is there a special procedure for large garbage like this?

Please report the pile of garbage as an illegal dump. The city will come and clean it out.

I’d reported the dumped mattresses on 14th and 123rd to the city and as of today I’m happy to report they’ve been cleaned-up (as has the property across the street from the mattresses). It may take while, but the city will respond to reports of illegal dumping.
