I spoke with Allynn Ruth at the Department of Neighborhoods and learned that under some recent changes neighbors can pledge via e-mail instead of by the pledge form I had sent earlier. This is a big help because we still need $5,000 in pledges in order to be able to submit our grant application. (Note: If I don’t get enough pledges by this Sunday, we can submit the grant in April. We have $1,000 in cash, $1,000 in matching funds that are applied for and about $500 in formally documented (the correct documentation is important) pledges.)
To pledge via e-mail, send me an e-mail with the following information. The format is really important.:
I [your name] pledge:
– Volunteer [number] hours on the Jackson Park Trail Design project. I plan to volunteer in the following ways: [examples: serving on the steering committee, consultant selection committee, community outreach, attending community meetings, other – be specific]. The value of my volunteer pledge is: [hours] * $15/hour = $[your hours * 15].
– $[dollar amount – note that you do not need to actually give the funds for a few months – until we get closer to contracting the grant] to the Jackson Park Trail Design project.
