Until the end of 2011, the North Precinct has a new Crime Prevention Coordinator, Terrie Johnston. After that, her grant runs out and the entire Crime Prevention Coordinator program will be eliminated. Until then, please contact Terrie at 206-684-7711 or terrie.johnston@seattle.gov. She is available for issues such as:
- Setting up a block watch
- Speaking to a community group about personal safety
- Conducting home security audits
- National Night Out (August 2nd this year), a block party to organize neighbors against crime
Another save-the-date is the North Precinct picnic on Saturday July 9th. Fun, food, music, booths!
And here’s a reminder from yesterday’s meeting of the North Precinct Advisory Council: don’t leave your car keys by the door of your home. If a burglar enters your house, it is too easy to also steal the car if the keys are visible by the door. Store keys farther in the interior of the house. You don’t want the thief to use your own car to haul away your stuff!
