The renovation at Northacres Park is done, including the new spraypark! Sorry for the short notice on the opening celebration on Saturday, June 2nd, 11am – 1pm. Text from the Park Department press release is below.
The community is invited to join Seattle Parks and Recreation, Haller Lake
Community Club and Bitter Lake Community Center at the celebration for the
new spraypark and play area at Northacres Park on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The event features music by Pasquale Santos, family fun, light refreshment and a brief opening yoga experience. Northacres Park is located at 12718 1st Ave NE.
The new playground is approximately double the size of the previous playground, and includes new fun play equipment, an improved entrance and better sightlines. The new spraypark replaces the Northacres wading pool with a re-circulating water system, and spray features that appeal to multiple ages. Key considerations in the new design were safety, water/energy conservation and selection of spray features that the community finds engaging.
The Parks and Green Spaces Levy provided funding for the project. Seattle voters passed the Parks and Green Spaces Levy by a 59% vote in November 2008. The $146 million Levy includes funding to renovate 23 play areas, bringing them into compliance with current play area safety standards as well as meeting the access requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The spray park happened to be up and running last Saturday…it was awesome! And the new playground area is very nice. They did a wonderful job renovating that park.
