Friends of Jackson Park Trail received notice today that we were awarded a $15,000 Small and Simple Neighborhood Matching Fund grant to design the trail! This was an extremely competitive grant round. Only half of the projects that applied were funded. Thank you to everyone who pledged and donated to the project! More details to follow.
Why are you people trying to turn our nice quiet neighborhood into Greenlake? This is going to destroy our rural out of the way feeling. We are working to get a lawsuit organized to stop this.
There is extensive support for the project from a large group of Jackson Park neighbors, community members and many other stakeholders.
Leaving anonymous threatening comments on a blog is not a constructive way to start a dialogue. We will be holding a series of community meetings later this year and welcome you to join us in the discussion. Also, you are always welcome to reach out to me at reneeastaton at gmail.com.
Renee, very exciting to hear about the grant to design the walking trail. Congratulations! I am looking forward to having a nice, quiet neighborhood that encourages walking. I don’t see anything nice and quiet about cars zooming by pedestrians who are trying to get around on streets without sidewalks. The more we can have pleasant places to walk, the better.
The first comment is a joke, right?
Our neighborhood in no way has a quiet rural feeling, in my opinion. It’s difficult to even go for a walk without cars breathing down your neck. I grew up in a real rural environment – where I could learn to ride my bike on the street in front of our house. There is nowhere for kids to learn to ride currently in our neighborhood. Hear hear for the folks working on this project.
Why are you trying to ruin a very pleasant golf course? Out-of-control kids and neer-do-well lunchers will make the place look like North Acres Park did a while ago. And save your money—you’ll need it for the first lawsuit from someone who gets hit on the head with a golf ball.
