The Seattle Hearing Examiner issued a recommendation that Seattle City Council approve the Pinehurst Safeway rezone application. Read the ruling here. Note there were no comments submitted to the Hearing Examiner in opposition to the rezone and no appeals to the Hearing Examiner’s recommendation were filed.
The next step in the rezone application process is a review and vote by Seattle City Council. We understand that the Seattle City Council Planning Land Use and Neighborhoods Committee is tentatively scheduled to consider the Pinehurst Safeway rezone on September 9th, but likely will not vote on the issue until September 23rd.
If the rezone is approved by Council this fall, Safeway expects to begin construction in early 2010 with the new store opening in fall 2010.
