CleanScapes Neighborhood Waste Reduction Reward!
We’ve talked about how Pinehurst was one of the neighborhoods awarded $50,000 recently for reducing how much waste we produce. And we reached out for suggestions on how to spend that money and talked about it at one of the recent meetings.
Now we’re looking for a volunteer to help select the winning project. Each of the neighborhoods will be sending representatives to the selection committee. They will be meeting 2-3 times over the next month or two to narrow down the proposals and select the winning project(s). Please let me know (phillip@pinehurstseattle.org) if you’re interested in representing Pinehurst.
Seriously, awarding grants can be a lot of fun which is why we wanted to open this up to the larger community. You get to give away somebody else’s money! It’s also often a lot of work but this should be a much smaller time commitment since the award is relatively small and I don’t think there were a crazy number of applicants. There isn’t a formal application process for the volunteer so I will generally selecting the first applicant who is from our community and who appears committed. Thanks!
I would do it. Would I be excluded since I have requested a grant?
I will check and let you know. It’s such a small group that I can see if everybody else would agree.
