Thank you to the MANY people who sent wonderful pictures and stories about their pets. It will take a few weeks, but I’ll get them all posted. My thanks to Nancy R, who was FIRST to respond, for this story:
Gracie is a petite gray shorthair cat — get it, gray/Gracie? Six winters ago she and her three kittens were picked up from a snowy field by Seattle Animal Control. [Vintage postcard image]
Her kittens were adopted and then Gracie went to her new home in Pinehurst/Victory Heights. Though she’s now an indoor kitty, she often goes on supervised outings in the back yard on a harness and leash. It’s there she met her boyfriend and next door neighbor, Jasper. [ed note: this not “Frankencat,” from 8/08/09, but a different Jasper altogether!]
Jasper visits Gracie’s house every day and comes inside when Gracie’s person notices him waiting. Jasper is the only cat Gracie likes. On the other hand Jasper simmediately befriends every cat he meets (and humans, too). He’s a real character. He makes daily rounds on his street to keep up with what’s going on. Only Jasper knows how many friends he has. Surely Gracie is one of his favorites!
