This month’s speaker at North Precinct Advisory Council was Josh Hall from Seattle Human Services Department. HSD funds many agencies that provide services to Seattle residents. There are three divisions: Youth and Family Empowerment; Community Support and Assistance; and Aging and Disability Services.
Regarding crime in the North Precinct, Captain Emerick noted that the auto theft task force has had a marked effect. In October-November there was a 45% reduction in car prowls from those months the previous year. In one 21 day period late in 2014 SPD made 27 auto theft arrests. And in the last 30 days there was a 142% reduction in car prowls compared to that period year ago.
