This North Precinct Advisory Council’s meeting agenda was to meet the mayoral candidates, but only Mike McGinn showed up. Joe Mallahan had a ‘family emergency’ so he sent one of his advisors. The advisor, Harry Bailey, is a well respected, retired, former Seattle Assistant Chief of Police. He was asked to answer our questions as Mallahan would have, but it seemed like he was responding with his own beliefs, which he said he was imparting to Mallahan for consideration. Harry did say that Mallahan’s number one priority is public safety. He is endorsed by Seattle Police Management Association, and Seattle Police Officers’ Guild. Mike McGinn took the podium for 45 minutes. At the meeting he said his public safety platform includes 1) enforcement; 2) engagement with the community to solve problems; 3) prevention. Most of his time was spent listening to our questions and concerns. He was eager to hear what our issues are.
