Pinehurst Community Council candidate for President statement

We have one candidate for Pinehurst Community Council President:

Candidate for President
Phillip Duggan

Born and raised in Seattle, I recently bought a house in Pinehurst, a stone’s throw from Boud’s Pinehurst Pub. I have a B.S. from Linfield College and work as a software tester. I’m excited about our vibrant community and the opportunity to be involved in its future. I attend the North District Council meetings, volunteered for Pinehurstfest, and will be working on the Jackson Park Trail. I hope to bring new ideas and energy to the position of Pinehurst Community Council President. Thank you for your support and I hope to talk to more of you personally.

Our next meeting and election will be held Monday, October 26th at Amante Pizza at 7 PM. Read more about the meeting here.

This weekend’s breakfast special at Treehouse Coffee (October 17-18)

Draft Northeast Seattle Trails Project Map – feedback needed by November 2nd

Feet First’s draft map for the Northeast Seattle Trails Project is now available for comment on-line! Please check out the map at the links below and get any comments that you have in by November 2nd. After final comments are incorporated, maps are expected to be printed for use in late December or early January.

Some questions to consider as you look at the draft map:

  • Does it have the information you need to have a good walking experience?
  • Is there other information you would want to see on the map?
  • If you’re familiar with the area, does it show paths you would take?

Click here to view the Draft map.

Send your comments to Seth@feetfirst.info by November 2nd 2009.

Earshot Jazz Festival begins this week

(full disclosure: I am on the board of Earshot Jazz)

Seattle’s Earshot Jazz Festival presents more than 50 one-of-a-kind events in concert halls, clubs, and community centers all around the city beginning October 16th and continuing through November 8th.

Known for “adventurous, spot-on programming” (Jazz Times) and praised as “one of the best festivals in America” (Seattle Times) the Earshot Jazz Festival brings jazz greats from around the world into creative collaboration with area artists and audiences. Earshot also celebrates Seattle’s place in the world of jazz, from our award-winning high-school jazz programs to our renowned resident jazz musicians.

The schedule for the 21st Earshot Jazz Festival is here at Festival Schedule.

Pinehurst Safeway: The rezone for the new store is almost complete

The Seattle City Council Planning Land Use and Neighborhoods Committee (PLUNC) met at 9:30 this morning and agreed to move the rezone vote to full Council. Safeway needs to sign the Property Use and Development Agreement (PUDA) and register it before the Council vote. This should take a week or so. Stay tuned for the notice of the full Council vote. Also, I will post the PUDA and a link to video of today’s PLUNC meeting when they are available.

Update

  • Here is the layout for the new store from the design review packet:

  • The Property Use and Development Agreement (PUDA) can be viewed here.
  • It sounds like Monday, October 26th may be the day that full Council votes on the Pinehurst Safeway rezone. If that is how it works out, we will have even more reason to celebrate at the October 26th Pinehurst Community Council meeting.
  • You can watch today’s PLUNC meeting here. (start at 8:00)
