Another Hiram Place home invasion robbery

From the Seattle Police Blotter:

On 6/4/09, at approximately 3:00 a.m., three suspects – two males and one female forced their way inside a residence in the 12000 block of Hiram Pl. NE, by kicking in the carport door. The known male suspect startled the sleeping male victim as he held a knife toward the victim as if he was going to stab him. The victim fought off the attacker and was cut on the hand, sustaining a minor injury. The unidentified 2nd male suspect held a pillow up over the female victim’s face to shield her vision of the female suspect’s actions, while the female suspect, also known to the victims, stole the victim’s purse and prescription narcotics.

The suspects fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. Patrol officers and a K9 unit responded to the area and established containment, but was not successful.

These suspects are known to the victims.

Malicious mischief/harassment arrests at Pinehurst 7-11

From the Seattle Police Blotter:

On June 3rd, at approximately 3:30 a.m., North Precinct officers were called to a convenience store in the 12300 Block of 15th Avenue NE for a report of two men harassing the clerk and causing property damage. The two suspects, both 20, had been loitering and harassing customers and the clerk. They were told to leave several times. When the clerk finally called 911 to ask for assistance, the men began yelling racial epithets at the clerk and then proceeded to kick and break a large glass window on the storefront, causing significant damage. The officers arrived and arrested the two suspects without incident. They were later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Malicious Harassment and Investigation of Malicious Mischief.

Update: I stopped by the Pinehurst 7-11 tonight and spoke with the store employee who was the victim of the harassment. He is a nice, hard working guy who has been at the store for a long time. The incident shook him up, but he is back at work today.

Northeast Seattle Trails (NEST) Takes to the Streets

update from Feet First:

The Northeast Seattle Trails (NEST) project is developing a walking trail network in Northeast Seattle. Feet First, the National Parks Service and community members have been out in the field and in meetings to map out where people currently walk and what routes they take. Routes will be compiled into an area wide walking network plan and displayed as a Neighborhoods on Foot map. We are gathering information about where people walk in the northeast is through an online survey. If you live, work, or play in or around northeast Seattle, please fill out this survey. In June we’ll have a draft map for the project.

Throughout the summer there will be a series of neighborhood walks. These walks will audit each route to determine if it is acceptable to be a walking route, and to document needed improvements along the route. The first planned walk is June 21st at the Northeast Seattle Healthy Lifestyles Father’s Day Event. The event is at Alber Davis Park by the Lake City Library from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. Walks will leave every half hour from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

More events will be planned as the summer progresses. If you would like to help coordinate a walk in the northeast, contact Seth Schromen-Wawrin by emailing seth@feetfirst.info or calling 206-652-2310.

Missing Person

Angela and Aram in Lake City are looking for help finding a neighbor, Brad Kays, who has gone missing. Brad is pictured above. If you have seen him or have any information, please contact lakecitycommunity@gmail.com.

From Angela:

On June 1, 2009 at 8:45am Brad left 13711 32nd Ave NE and headed to the DMV at 3rd and Spring. Presumably he took the 522, 306 or 312 downtown. The last phone call his partner, Robert Blair received was at 10:51 am telling him he was at the DMV and his number was 61. We haven’t heard from him since then. We have filed a missing persons report, and are putting up flyers in the neighborhood. This is extremely out of character for Brad to disappear, and we are all really worried.
