New Neighborhood Restaurant La Bera Replaces Seattle Crab Co.

Thanks to a Maple Leaf neighbor for this story – see it at  http://www.mapleleaflife.com/2010/07/06/la-bera-taking-place-of-seattle-crab-co/.

The location of former Seattle Crab Co., at 1000 NE Northgate Way, is opening this month as a new daytime coffee counter and evening sitdown Italian restaurant called La Bera. It will feature organic and locally grown food, and will include many vegetarian menu items.  Check it out!

If you love great coffee and your are also a dog lover you have to go check out the BARK!espresso & cafe on the corner of Roosevelt Way and 113th. It occupies the far north corner of the big building that houses Great Dog Daycare, Shop, Grooming, etc. It is a cheerful super clean spot with experienced baristas and wonderful guest service! They serve Caffe Vita, have delicious homemade pastries, desserts and light fare, including to die for breakfast sandwiches served on dill or ham and cheese biscuits. Cool summer salads, homemade humus and a grilled sandwich are available too.The plus for dog folks is that they have the Hound Hangout right on the other side of the wall from the coffee shop(you can even order via a walk up window) and sit and sip or eat with your dog in the same room! I have met some very fun and cool people and dogs there. They open early enough for me to get my morning coffee when I drop my dogs off at daycare. Even if you are not a dog person go for the great tasting coffee and food. You will become a fan I just know it!!!

I know this seems like an advertisement but it is just so refreshing to have a new venue like this in our neighborhood.

  • Thanks for the enthusiasm. We had a post and some discussion on that when it opened: http://www.pinehurstseattle.org/2010/05/03/bark-espresso-is-now-open/

Super nice wonderful people here. I keep seeing evidence of this weird online “smear” campaigns coming from a few lovers of the Bark place (weird? unneighborly?), so make sure you take that into account. Silly quickly a few troublemakers can mess up a reputation with a single post.

Went there this morning and the owners were amazingly nice to us and our crazy toddlers, the waffles were great, and they were very interested in feedback since they haven’t even had a real grand opening yet. Still working out kinks of a new place. We’ll definitely be back to try it again.

Check it out for sure… and yes check out the new doggy coffee place too even if a few bad apples from there are behaving silly online. =)
