Trees provide many benefits to our community: filter air pollution, provide shade in hot weather, reduce storm water runoff, provide habitat for critters – and they are attractive.
City of Seattle’s Trees for Neighborhoods program is offering free trees to plant in your yard. It is accepting applications until October 24. For the application form and more information, go to http://www.seattle.gov/trees/treesforneighborhoods.htm
Participants in the program receive:
- Free trees
- Watering bags
- Training on proper planting and care
- Coupon for free Groco compost
- Ongoing care reminders and workshop opportunities
All but medium and large trees are gone. Rats, would have loved an Asia Pear. This is a great program, got a couple trees last year.
