The special topic was the 9-1-1 Communications Center. Captain Dick Reed and Supervisor Robert Montague explained how it works and listened to some of the problems citizens have had making calls to 9-1-1. You can learn more by reading the minutes, below.
One big takeaway is that it is best to let the operator take control of the call. They are very efficient at getting the information they need to determine what actions need to be taken. They ask questions in a certain order. Let them ask the questions. If you start telling them things that they don’t need at the moment, they will (hopefully civilly) guide you back to the info they need.
