Cat Found Saturday 9/17

Cat

A Pinehurst neighbor found this sweet little cat hiding from the rain in front of her condo building (between 115th/117th and 15th NE) Saturday night.  It has no collar so we’re hoping this is someone’s cat or someone knows whose it is.

Please contact Autumn at 206-409-8907 with any information.

Post Mortem on NE 125th St. Restriping

It’s been a couple of months since NE 125th St. was restriped to make a center turn lane and bike lanes. What do you think about it now?

Has it made it easier or harder to turn left? Easier or harder to cross as a pedestrian? Safer or not as a cyclist?

And has the traffic slowed to a safer speed? Is it more congested?

Give us your thoughts and observations.

Pinehurst Folding Chairs Up For Grabs

All the chairs have been given away. Thanks to those who responded and made nice donations!

When the Pinehurst shelter house was remodeled this year, about a dozen metal folding chairs were removed and put in storage at Meadowbrook Community Center. MCC, which manages the use of our shelter house, has stocked it with more stackable chairs. We are looking for homes for these chairs.

If you would like some of them, and are willing to make a small token donation of your choice to the Pinehurst Community Council for them, please contact me at nancy@pinehurstseattle.org. First come, first served!

Crime Prevention Reminders

At September’s North Precinct Advisory Council our Crime Prevention Coordinator, Terri Johnston, reminded us of these tips:

1) Stop your mail and newspapers when you are out-of-town so they don’t collect on your porch and mailbox.

2) A burning front porch light at 2:00 in the afternoon on an 80 degree day is a clue that no one is home!!!

Kids Art in Pinehurst Pocket Park

Two year old Lynna created this colorful abstract art for us at this year’s Pinehurstfest. She really has an eye for color, doesn’t she? Thank you Lynna!

If you would like to submit artwork for the Pocket Park, please email nancy@pinehurstseattle.org. We’ll put it on matt board donated for this purpose by FRAMEIT Ltd, 539 NE Northgate Way.

North Seattle Arson

A Pinehurst neighbor just passed along a rather disturbing story of an arson in the area this morning. It’s a tiny bit out of the neighborhood (Meadowbrook/Lake City) but still much too close for comfort.

This is a very good reminder of the importance of getting to know your neighbors, keeping out eye out for each other, and reporting anything suspicious.

Firefighters responded to the blaze, in the 11700 block of 36th Avenue NE, at about 4:50 a.m. after receiving a 911 call.

When crews arrived, they found smoke and flames billowing from the house, said Batallion Chief Jay Schreckengost of the Seattle Fire Department.

After the fire was extinguished, police determined that the blaze had been purposefully set, and an arson investigation was launched.
