Keep an eye out for a missing cat… “Our cat, Luna, has been missing since yesterday. She is a Siamese- Calico shorthair with a very loud meow. Normally she is an indoor cat. She has no collar but she is microchipped. If you find her please contact me: jilda2bean@yahoo.com. Thank YOU!”

Kids Art in Pinehurst Pocket Park

There’s a new work of art in the kiosk at Pinehurst Pocket Park. Fatima, age 7, drew it at Pinehurstfest this summer.

Come on by and see this nifty drawing. The park is at NE 117th St and 19th Ave NE. Thanks, Fatima!

Explosion and Fire on 5th at 123rd

News stations are reporting that a house exploded at 5th Ave NE and NE 123rd St around 6 AM this morning, 9/26. No details yet on what happened!

I don’t know if it is a coincidence, but there was a natural gas leak in the neighborhood yesterday (Sunday) around 2 PM.

Yes, we are still offering our once monthly Free for Me and My Friend days at NORTH SEATTLE COMMUNITY ACUPUNCTURE. Bring someone new to the clinic on one of these days and you both receive a free treatment. Bringing only yourself for your first visit? That works too! Our next free day is Friday, October 7 from 2pm until 6pm.

Fire Thursday night in Apartment Building on 15th

Nobody was injured by the fire in the apartment building at 11532 15th Ave NE. The fire occurred around 11PM on Thursday, 9/22/2011. It was caused by cigarettes, according to KOMO. It sounds like police officers were the first responders and got everyone out.

The Spooky Sprint

Kids, ages 6-12, are invited to come in costume and participate in the 8th annual Spooky Sprint, a 1 mile or 2-mile fun run at Magnuson Park (south of swim beach) on Saturday, October 22  at 10:00 am. 

A special Tot Sprint (ages 3-5) will kick off the event! 

All participants receive a finisher ribbon and a t-shirt.  Prizes will be awarded to top runners in the older division.  Refreshments will be served after the run. 

Race registration forms are available at Magnuson Community Center.  Cost is $15.00.

Haunted Teen Flashlight Prize and Candy Hunt

Magnuson Park’s annual Haunted Flashlight Prize and Candy Hunt for teens, ages 11-14, will be held on Friday, Oct. 28, 7:30-9:00 p.m. in Hangar 30 Workshop, 6344 NE 74th St.  Free!  Come for music, food and frightful fun!  Bring your flashlights.

Harvest Celebration October 1st

Join Magnuson Community Center, the Children’s Garden, and Magnuson’s Community Garden Orchard & Pea Patch for a day of “Harvest Celebration” on Saturday, October 1, 11:30am-2:30pm.

Special guest, Caspar Babypants, will perform at 1pm! 

Also featured will be a fruit-tasting maze, apple press, garden games and more! 

The celebration will be at the Children’s Garden and Magnuson Park Amphitheater, 6344 NE 74th St. The event is free and open to all.  For more information, please contact the community center at 206-684-7026.
