Greg at Smarter Neighbors has a summary of a presentation that David Neiman of CORA Northwest made to Wedgwood Community Council last week. David Neiman will also be presenting on the same topic at our Monday, January 26th Pinehurst Community Meeting. Unfortunately, we got close to, but did not get all of the formal volunteer pledge forms that we need to apply for our grant. We raised $2,000 in cash and have $3,000 in formal pledges. We still need at least $2,500 in formal pledges. We still plan to apply for the grant and to submit it by the first week of February. Please, help us make Jackson Park Trail a reality. To pledge via e-mail, send me an e-mail with the following information. The format is really important.: I [your name] pledge: – Volunteer [number] hours on the Jackson Park Trail Design project. Residents invited to provide feedback on city’s snow response SEATTLE – Mayor Greg Nickels invites Seattle residents to talk with him, department heads and city staff about their winter-storm experiences. Three meetings are planned and residents are invited to attend any or all: Tuesday, Jan. 13, 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Green Lake Community Center, 7201 E. Green Lake Dr. N. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Garfield Community Center, 2323 E. Cherry St. Thursday, Jan. 15, 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Southwest Community Center, 2801 S.W. Thistle St. The sessions will offer residents an informal opportunity to talk one-on-one with the mayor and meet with staff from transportation, utilities and other departments. Northeast Seattle Trails (NEST) Kick-off Meeting At this meeting we will begin the process of identifying important pedestrian routes (‘trails’) in the Northeast Area of the city, including Pinehurst, Jackson Park, Olympic Hills, Maple Leaf, Ravenna, View Ridge, Wedgewood, Northgate, Victory Heights, Meadowbrook, Lake City and any other areas of interest. All are welcome. Goals of the NEST project: North East Seattle Trails Expected Outcomes: Information or Questions? Update to my earlier post regarding the Jackson Park Trail grant application.
I spoke with Allynn Ruth at the Department of Neighborhoods and learned that under some recent changes neighbors can pledge via e-mail instead of by the pledge form I had sent earlier. This is a big help because we still need $5,000 in pledges in order to be able to submit our grant application. (Note: If I don’t get enough pledges by this Sunday, we can submit the grant in April. We have $1,000 in cash, $1,000 in matching funds that are applied for and about $500 in formally documented (the correct documentation is important) pledges.)
